It’s another motivation Monday! I skipped a couple of days last week and I’m a bit late with tonight’s post. I haven’t been feeling too well the past few days. I noticed my fatigue level really getting to me last week and I started feeling terrible Friday afternoon. I have noticed that small sickness really seem to knock me down since being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. I am trying to remind myself to make sure I get plenty of rest while also maintaining health habits that are only going to help my body. Balance is key!
I love this week’s quote. It’s from Lao Tzu and speaks about the fact that we must focus on self-transformation in order to transform the world around us. We focus on transforming the whole of ourselves.
“If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation.”
I have always been a perfectionist and I often find myself oscillating between this desire to be perfect and this acceptance of imperfection and acknowledgement that each day I must simple do my very best—some days will be better than others. Perfectionism robs us of our joy. This week’s quote reminds me that I should continually seek self-transformation, not perfection. This will look different for each person; reflect on what it means for you.
