Hello friends! I hope you all are doing well. The burpee challenge wrapped up last week. How did you do? Were you able to do all 70 burpees on the last day? Honestly, I didn’t finish it. My knees have started bothering me a lot over the past week. I have been taking it easy the past few days. They are actually a little swollen and they feel stiff. They have been making quite a bit of noise lately too. I decided to listen to my body and ease off a bit for a couple of days. No matter how many you were able to complete, I hope you are proud of yourself. I will be doing this challenge again soon (hopefully I will finish this time) and I plan to post a video with examples of how to do burpees as well as squat thrusts for those of you who may want to actually see how they are done!
With that being said, I have been thinking a lot about my health and fitness goals. One of my biggest fitness goals for this year is to run another full marathon. Part of long distance running is eating in a manner that truly fuels the body. I know many people who eat terribly and run long distances, but it’s really not ideal. With that being said, I also have a goal to give up gluten, processed foods, and refined sugars. Many people go gluten free because it’s a popular thing to do, but individuals with digestive issues and autoimmune disease (such as myself) have found that removing gluten from their diet lessens some of the symptoms associated with both.
Unfortunately, I have not been working very diligently on either of these goals. I can’t help but ask myself, “What is holding me back?” When I am around other people I tend to eat the way they eat….even if it goes against what I am trying to achieve for my health. In the next few days I am going to be embarking on a challenge centered around the two goals mentioned above. I am going to ask you to join on me on this challenge and keep me accountable. Working towards being healthier—we can do it together. Your goals don’t have to mimic mine, but I want to challenge others to set goals and then work towards them. Please let me know if you want to join me!
